When wondering how the world was created my mind tells me that God created it and not to believe in the big bang theory. I am a christian so i believe in most of the things that the bible tells us, mostly that it is God who created the world. So it's somewhat hard to get into the topic of how the earth was formed and later evolved. However, i do think that the big bang theory is a fairly decent explanation as to how the earth was created if it wasnt god who created it.
I was wondering when God would come into this discussion, and I'm actually surprised it took this long. While I can respect the belief in a higher power, I have a hard time believing that a divine being created everything that now exists. It just seems totally impractical to me, and very unlikely. In my opinion, just like we will never know the history of the earth, we will never really know if there is a higher power. Also like the history of the earth, there is a lack of proof. I am not convinced.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to add that I really appreciate you being accepting of people who do not share your beliefs.
I agree with Anastasia. I was going to say what if God made the big bang happen? haha :)
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing as I was watching the videos. I am also a Christian, so I have a completely different view of how the earth was created. However, I think that these events could be possible. It's just a matter of, like Fran said, what if God made all these things happen? I believe that God is the Man behind all the action, but what the exact actions were...I am unsure.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree that faith can have its place in science it just depends how literally people want to take the Bible's wording. I was raised Catholic and we are known to be pretty strict when it comes to our beliefs but the pope acknowledged that evolution is real a couple of years ago showing that there is room for science within religion. As people have mentioned before why could God have not started the Big Bang theory or directed evolution? To have power over something does not mean that you can not allow some things to occur naturally. At the same time, if God really disapproved of us looking into science as deeply as we do why would he intervene and try to deter us from doing so?
ReplyDeleteFinally...God has come into the discussion! I'm on the same page as Cody: I automatically think of God (due to my Christian faith) when the creation of Earth is up for discussion; however, with this in mind, I find the big bang theory to be a reasonable cause, as well, but it's difficult to put the two together -- merging both ideas. I like Fran's comment about God making the big bang happen... :)
