Just wondering???

I have never blogged before so I hope this works.

In class we talked about how earth was formed by rocks sticking to other rocks. The bigger the rock the more rocks would be attracted to it. My first thought was… Why does Mars stay where it is and not collide with earth? Then if the moon is made up of earth’s crust why would the moon not come back to earth? I believe Mars is bigger than earth so if a plant the size of Mars hit earth why would it break apart instead of earth? And two plants colliding creating the moon and destroying the other planet I think that would leave a HUGE dent in the earth.

I thought this was all interesting I am not a big science person so maybe I am missing something but this just did not make a lot of since to me.

  1. There are a lot of things about the theories of how the earth was formed that don't make much sense to me. I want to know the answers to all the questions you posed too. Also, if the biggest clump of rocks became the earth, how did Jupiter become the biggest planet? For me, these ambiguities just prove my point that we have no way of knowing what happened that long ago.

  2. I completely agree. I can see how with each guess about what happened there are millions of debates.

  3. I dont know the answer to all of your questions but i'll give it my best guess. The suns gravity is so massive that it pull all the planets in and keeps them where they are. and the planets themselves are so small that they have basically no pull on eachother and they are to far away to pull on each other. The moon however reloves around the earth at such a speed that it never its us, kind of like a satilite in space it fall around earth. There is no big dent in earth because when the earth struck that other planet is was still magma all over so it just filled the dent and became sphericall once again. Most of this is just a guess so some or all of it might be wrong.

  4. I've always been interested in how the earth was created, and it seems like everyone each has their own answer about what happened. And another question, we know there are other galaxys out in space, but did they form the same way as ours, or did it happen another way?

  5. I HAD THE SAME QUESTION! IS THERE ANY DENT IN THE EARTH THAT PROOFS THAT ANOTHER PLANET COLLIDED WITH THE EARTH? FOR IS AMAZING HOW LITTLE PIECES OF ROCKS CAN ACTUALLY HAS FORMED THIS PLANETS HERE IN OUR GALAXY AND I MEAN OUR GALAXY BECAUSE WHO KNOWS HOW OTHERS FORMS OF PLANETS FORMATIONS EXIST.

  6. I was wondering to where this random planet came from and why it wasn't stuck in an orbit like earth/ mars?

  7. Also, if Earth was already stuck in orbit when it got hit by a huge planet, how did the impact not send the earth out of orbit?

  8. It sounds like everyone, including the scientists, have questions about the earth's beginning. I found a flier that looks like it relates to our geography topics. There is an expert giving seminars about dinos, the age of the earth, DNA, along with topics. I think it would be interesting to go to. Most of them are Sunday, the first starts at 8:30 talking about design, deluge, and dilemma, the next is at 9:40 about the dinos and the age of the earth, another at 10:30, and the last on Sunday at 6:30 about the most asked questions answered. There is also one on Monday evening also beginning at 6:30. These talks are all at First Assembly of God on 2830 Airport Way. There is no cost, and it sounds really good. The phone number for this event is 474-9112. If you have some questions, come hear Dr. Sarfati's information.
