animals inhibating the planet

When reviewing the videos that we have been watching in class about the creation of our planet I feel like it takes my breath away. The idea that one small bacteria could have created all of the life on our planet is so phenomenal. I know it was explained in the video but I still can not help but think how in the world is that possible. I have never learned of these theories until now and I am suprised that we haven't been taught these theories when we were younger such as in high school. Why haven't we been taught this before?

What I want to know is how this bacteria specifically created all these different species? What were some of the first species created?

The idea that the planet was first filled with lava and then finally water is kind of a wierd concept, but it makes sense. How else would we have gotten the crust and the mantle?

I do not know how God fits into all these ideas. It perplexs me how then God exists or how these two ideas coinside. If God exists then what did he do exactly? I mean the bible states that God created all the plants and animals and made the universe. So if scientists find that one species was formed and then the rest of the plants and animals were formed from that then how do these two ideas fit together? It doesn't make sense. I guess you just have to believe in one idea or the other.

  1. I think that God fits into these theories...The bible does say that God created everything, most definitely, but it doesn't give specifics. Maybe this is an idea of HOW God created things. No one will ever know for sure. It's just a matter, like you said, of what you choose to believe.

  2. This is like a previous post/comment that I posted: I'm interesting in how God and the big bang merge together.

I think Melissa beat me to the punch in saying that the Bible isn't too specific that all of this could be how God created things. I mean, if God was here before EVERYTHING, then wouldn't He have been here before the universe was created? Wouldn't Hcreate the big bang? Wouldn't He be behind the scenes of it all?

  3. I don't think that the two theories can even try and fit together, they won't ever make sense with each other. Whether you believe everything started with God or with the big bang, they are such different ideas and there are so many questions about each one (in my mind at least) that it seems ridiculous to even try and make them explain each other. I think sittind around trying to figure it out isn't gonna lead anywhere, although it is always fun to have these deep conversations. It's like trying to mix oil and water, they just don't go together. It's simply a matter of what you believe and if you're happy with it, then great.

  4. I definitely had the same questions in my head! I know we were supposed to comment on these awhile ago but I didn't.. I never heard of some of the theories until now and it's pretty cool..
