Question about PTSD

I'm not sure i fully understand the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He explains that it happens when one sees something horrific and then suppresses it inside to the point where it drives you to insanity from guilt. I guess I'm not really understanding how this is being classified as a reason for current drinking problems. I understand how drinking can be a result of PTSD but how do the children get PTSD? He says it's passed down to the children from the parents, is PTSD a disease that can be passed genetically? Or is he saying that because the parents suffer they cause the kids to unconsciously? Please help me understand :)

  1. I will give it a try.
You are right by the diffinition of PTSD. But Nallunguag come into play with that. "Pretend it did not happen". That the families did not discuss the Great Death which led to a state of depression. But that also led to other happenings in their life they did not speek of through generations. They did not speek to each other about anything bad they were a humble species keep everything inside. As a result alchol/drugs became the outlet for generations. So as a result through dependency on the government for food/clothing. Not relying on their own way of life. Their dignity became supressed which led to more dependency of alcohol/drugs. Their whole ora of life went from strong leadership and values to no leadership and someone elses values(missionaries). They lost their way and did not know how to get backout. The cycle of depression over generations had begun. Genetically maybe because alcohol is a disease. But children see how parents deal with problems and the cycle just continues.
    Hope this helps

  2. On page 26 to 17 he explains it better. Since the people that lived through out the Great Death were unable to express their emotions without knowing it they began to deal with all their problems that way. Trying to ignore them, by not talking to them. Which became the way the raised their children becoming a cycle. So this first generation had PTSD and it became their way of dealing with issues turning into a cycle that hasn't stopped. I hope this helps too.
