Just to mix things up and some interesting info about volcanoes

I kind of think that one huge reason the earth changed climate is because of Volcanoes. Also causing animals to die off…

After an eruption the air is hard to breath and the climate is affected. What is known as the little ice age is thought to be caused by a volcano. Iceland is known for the past 300-400 years to cause huge climate cooling in Europe and North America.

JUST A SMALL ONE In 2009 Redoubt (in Alaska located under a glacier) by Feb 10, 2009 it Redoubt already melted about 2,000 Olympic size swimming pools it did not even go off till March 22 there was 6 major expiations and ash went 60,000 feet in those 2 days. Between March 22-28 there had been 18 major explosions 40,000feet into the atmosphere. About 23 million cubic meters of ash fell around the Cook Inlet area.

This is a Video of Mt. Vasuvius in Italy. It killed a WHOLE LOT of people! The people are frozen in time and you can even see some of their last facial expressions. It’s CRAZY!!! PS people still live in this area and there is one high way out…. 600.000 live in the red zone!!!!!

Caldara volcanoes can be 2 – 100km across and normally are the most explosive and can have the other 2 types of volcanoes form inside of them. They are also known as Super volcanoes for example Yellow Stone (2 million years ago Yellow Stone erupted 600 cubic MILES of magma)

and the picture is how much magma is thought to be in a volcano. look for Yellow stone compared to Mt.Saint Helens

I really don't have a question I was just wondering what every one thought...

  4. This is all really interesting. Volcanoes are kind of a big deal! When Redoubt erupted last year, it disrupted a lot of lives. A lot of schools were closed and people couldn't leave their houses for a few days. I went to the store and when I came back out, it was snowing ash on my car. I had to wear a mask and it was lucky that I lived so close to the store! And this was just a tiny, insignificant eruption!

Also, the major theory as to what caused the huge drop in human population about 70,000 years ago is a volcano, Mt. Toba. I forget the exact numbers, but the volcano wiped out a huge part of the human population, enough to change the culture's methods of sexual selection. And like you said, Mt. Visuvius killed a lot of people. So yeah, volcanoes are a really big deal!

  5. I would like to agree with Mary; i also think that volcanoes have a huge impact on the Earth and have changed it's climate over time. As for affects of Mt. Redoubt, i have a long story to tell everyone that i'm going to make short. I participated in the West Valley 2009 mock trial competition in Anchorage two years ago. We we're forced to drive back and miss school the next day because Redoubt grounded all of the night flights. The roads were terrible on our way back and there was ash every where. I'm glad that i was not driving, otherwise we would have probably never made it back that night lol. But anyways, on our way back we saw a truck flip over in the middle of the road after spinning out on a sheet of black ice. So we all got out and stayed with a injured couple for two hours until the ambulance finally showed up (we we're in the middle of no where). The moral of the story is that Volcanoes really do have a huge affect on people and our environment.
